On April 28th, the membership of Local 3599 approved the first annual budget since since the local was established.
The Local 3599 budget estimates income and expenses for all of 2021. This is important because it helps us to see if our income will be enough to cover our anticipated expenses, and it lets us know what union activities and events we can afford to plan. The budget is broken down into expense categories so it’s clear to everyone what union money is being spent on. The approved budget allows the Executive Board to authorize spending from each expense category without requesting approval of the full membership before purchases are made. Per our constitution, the Executive Board can authorize expenditures up to 15% more than the budgeted amount, if necessary, prior to consulting the full membership for approval.
